No. 46 “Cornish Cove – Winter” – Watercolour Sketch (Time Lapse)

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2020 and my first sketch of the year. This is a watercolour sketch of a Cornish cove in winter. At the end of the video you will see how I managed to remove (well almost!) the seaweed that looked really wrong and replace it with a far more subtle seaweed effect. I achieved this by painting a small amount of water onto the painting of the seaweed in the picture and then VERY GENTLY scrubbed with the brush and then dabbed it with a clean tissue. This works if you have a good quality tough watercolour paper and if it is something which will still have some texture, like a beach and also if it is not a “staining” colour. I then went back in with a dark brown “Pentel”pen and gently drew in the seaweed with a less regular pattern this time and used a more subtle touch. I was pleased with the “repair” and managed to rescue a sketch that I was less than happy with and turned it into one that I may now make into a full sized painting, which is why I do the sketches in the first place! Hope you enjoyed the video.

No. 44 “Christmas Baubles”- Watercolour Sketch (Time Lapse)

Happy Christmas everybody! I definitely had a handicap this week with this sketch as I had eye surgery on my “good” eye on Thursday and cannot see that well at the moment, but I am hoping and praying that it will improve some more before next week. It should have been the “4 month” sketch of my Grandson but I am hoping to do that next week now. Thank you for watching.

No. 43 Sketchbook Tour

This is a tour through a Watercolour Sketchbook of mine that I started in 2016 and finally completed a few weeks ago. It contains some of my sketches from my You Tube videos plus sketches that I used as “try outs for potential larger finished paintings. Thank you for watching.
